The Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) has been awarded $283,000 through the State Trade Expansion Program Grant (STEP) administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The purpose of the grant is to assist Nevada Eligible Small Business Concerns (ESBCs) to enter or expand in the export market.
With the STEP grant funding, GOED’s International Division plans to provide financial assistance awards to Nevada ESBCs to enable participation in the following approved export sales activities:
-Foreign market sales trips
- Attendance and participation at IBP and IBP Select Trade Shows in the United States
- Participate in GOED-led trade mission
Nevada ESBCs may compete for a Financial Assistance Award through the grant by completing an application and submitting it to GOED. Applications will be reviewed for approval by the Nevada International Trade and Investment Council.
The Financial Assistance Award may be used to cover some travel costs, approved business-to-business matching services, approved registration and exhibit fees, and others as indicated in the application and determined at time of award. Award amounts typically will be between $2,500 and $10,000 and each awardee must match the full amount of the award in covering the cost of the export sales activity.
Competitive applicants will meet all qualifications as set forth by GOED and the SBA and will present a clear and effective plan to utilize the award to achieve actual export sales within six to twelve months of completion of the activity. Previous awardees may apply.
Completed applications should be submitted electronically to Jarad Van Wagoner at email@example.com. Companies interested in applying for GOED's STEP Grant sub-fund grants to travel to Australia, should click on the image below to fill out the STEP Grant application.
