BUSINESS RECRUITMENT PLATFORM ‘NEVADA GLOBAL' LAUNCHES

LAS VEGAS/CARSON CITY, Nev. (June 12, 2018) -- Today, the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) announced the creation of a new initiative aimed at attracting international, high-growth companies looking to establish U.S. footholds and expand. “Nevada Global” will partner with economic development agencies abroad to identify candidate businesses and connect them to Nevada’s startup accelerator community.

“Nevada Global will strengthen our position as an innovator in such sectors as unmanned systems, water technology, and gaming innovation, while it connects our homegrown entrepreneurial ecosystem to international networks and new sources of capital investment,” said Governor Brian Sandoval.

At home and abroad, the number of Nevada Global partners will continue to increase and offer prospective companies with a support network to facilitate entry to the U.S. market.

“We want to continue to position the Silver State as a location of choice for innovative businesses and smart capital, including foreign direct investment, which has the potential to create more jobs and higher wages for Nevadans,” said GOED Executive Director Paul Anderson. “For an international company looking to enter the U.S. market, there is no better landing place than Nevada.”

GOED’s International Division will work with foreign partners to identify companies with some success in their domestic markets, some preparation to enter the U.S. market, and are a good fit within targeted sectors.

International partners include national and municipal governments and institutions such as incubators, accelerators, technology parks, and business schools who will assist in the development of the selection process and in promoting the Nevada Global platform.

Nevada partners include:

  • Adams Hub, Carson City
  • College of Business at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Rob Roy's Innevation Center, Powered by Switch
  • Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship, University of Nevada, Reno
  • Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN)
  • International Gaming Institute (IGI), University of Nevada, Las Vegas
  • Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA)
  • Nevada Center for Advanced Mobility (Nevada CAM)
  • Nevada Industry Excellence
  • Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems (NIAS)
  • Nevada Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
  • Polish American Chamber of Commerce of Nevada with Honorary Consulate of Poland in Las Vegas
  • StartUpNV
  • WaterStart
  • Work in Progress, Las Vegas

The first major Nevada Global recruiting and vetting event will take place in Poland, where Governor Sandoval signed an agreement in 2017 with the Marshal of the Lubelskie Province Slawomir Sosnowski to create such a program. Under the agreement, competitively-selected companies will come to Nevada later this year in cohorts to take part in the statewide immersion program.
