NEVADA MAKES HISTORY FOR EXCELLENCE IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
LAS VEGAS, N.V. (March 22, 2016) – The Governor’s Office of Economic Development was honored by the Site Selectors Guild, an invite-only membership organization for the world’s leading site selectors, for Excellence in Economic Development at the group’s annual meeting a few weeks ago. This is the first time the State of Nevada has received this award and it was the first time a single economic development organization was nominated by three Guild members for three different projects.
Nevada’s award was given as a result of three different site selectors nominating GOED for three different projects – a first in the history of the Guild. The nominated projects were: Barclaycard, eBay, and Faraday Future.
“It is truly an honor for Nevada to be recognized by the top site selectors in the world as a recipient of The Site Selectors Guild’s Excellence in Economic Development award. This award represents Governor Sandoval’s leadership, the significant support provided by our legislature, and the commitment from RDAs, industry, agencies, and local governments to create the New Nevada,” said Steve Hill, Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
Hill continued, “Site selectors are often engaged to determine the best places for companies to locate based on criteria such as business environment, certainty of execution, land availability and infrastructure, and workforce. Nevada’s state-wide economic development partners have worked diligently to create an environment that is attractive to site selectors and companies to bring great jobs to the state.”
According to the Guild, “Award candidates are Economic Development Organizations (EDOs) nominated by Guild members and are selected based on mastery of process; ingenuity and creativity; going above and beyond; political acumen; staying power; and personal and caring touch.”
